Miiraku Peninsula: A Stage for Volcanic Activity and History

Jutting out into the East China Sea from the northwestern tip of Fukue Island, the Miiraku Peninsula is a place born of volcanic activity and uplift. This peninsula has long served as a "sea route" to the continent, and it is said to have been a port of call for Japanese envoys to Tang China who crossed the East China Sea. Appearing in classical literature such as the Man'yoshu, the peninsula was also a poetic symbol of an island on the border with foreign lands and the Western Pure Land during the Heian period. The coastal area and sea from Takasaki Bana to Kashiwazaki to Nagasaki Bana in Miiraku Town is designated as a National Place of Scenic Beauty and was certified as a Japan Heritage site in 2015.

Takasaki Beach: A Ghibli-esque Paradise

Experience the magic of Takasaki Beach, a breathtaking white-sand beach framed by dramatic lava rock formations. Just 35 minutes from central Fukue, this idyllic spot was even immortalized in the "One Hundred Views of Goto" by the late Nizo Yamamoto, a renowned Studio Ghibli artist.
